Shared Adversity.
I was riding on a Megabus yesterday that broke down. We spent almost 4 hours at a truckstop and I learned about the lives and jobs of half a dozen people. Everyone was taking it in stride and only one person complained loudly about the situation. I'm always amazed when I find myself surrounded by small groups of seemingly random people at how well they oftentimes all get along. My knitting groups, Nanowrimo groups, and other "random" groups that would from the surface have only one or two small things that the participants have in common and yet I've had some amazing interactions and gatherings with these people. Perhaps because of all the interactions I have with customers I tend to think that there are a lot of people out there that either I don't get along with or that are just generally hard to get along with. Perhaps this is untrue, or perhaps I'm just hanging out in all the right places.
